Civic Works To Sponsor First Mid-Atlantic Tiny House Expo

Two-day expo at Howard County Fairgrounds encourages visitors to think big by going tiny

BALTIMORE – September 15, 2017 – Sustainable, mobile and affordable tiny homes will fill the Howard County Fairgrounds on October 28-29 for the Mid-Atlantic Tiny House Expo. The Expo, presented in partnership with Baltimore nonprofit Civic Works, will feature more than 20 tiny house models and dozens of industry vendors with ideas and products for off-grid and simplified living.

Tiny house enthusiasts and attendees will tour tiny houses, shop the latest in building materials, small space furnishings and appliances, and receive information on financing and zoning regulations.

All net proceeds from the Mid-Atlantic Tiny House Expo will be donated to Civic Works, a Baltimore nonprofit working to strengthen Baltimore’s communities through education, skills development and community service.

Civic Works recently opened a warehouse facility where Baltimore City youth learn valuable construction skills by building tiny houses in a controlled, classroom environment. Completed houses are sold to help fund the program.

“We are thrilled to have Civic Works as an event partner and beneficiary,” said Frank Hazzard, manager of Tiny House Expos, the show’s producer. “Civic Works is doing such valuable work for Baltimore’s youth and is a respected player in the tiny house movement.”

Tiny house builders, including Civic Works, will display model homes that potential customers and those curious about tiny living are encouraged to tour. Other exhibitors will include 84 Lumber Tiny Living, PrecisionTemp, Water Wise Group and Nature’s Head.

“Tiny homes are more than a housing trend—they provide a lasting sense of financial freedom and encourage individuals to live a more sustainable lifestyle,” said Dana Stein, executive director of Civic Works. “We’re proud to serve as a partner for the first Mid-Atlantic Tiny House Expo. Exhibitors from as far away as the Washington state will be there, which demonstrates the massive impact of this ‘tiny’ movement.”

The Mid-Atlantic Tiny House Expo will take place October 28-29 inside the Howard County Fairgrounds’ 43,000-square-foot Main Exhibit Hall at 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship, Maryland.

Tickets are $12 for one day, $16 for two days and $29 for VIP access, which includes early entry to the event and a post-event happy hour.

Attendees and exhibitors are invited to park their tiny houses on the fairgrounds for the weekend for free. For more information and a full list of exhibitors, visit www.tinyhouseexpos.com.

About Tiny House Expos

Tiny House Expos was launched early this year to facilitate tiny house trade show events in the Mid-Atlantic region.  These events provide a way for people who are curious about tiny houses to tour several in one place.  It also provides a means of educating the public about and supporting the tiny house movement.  This includes helping tiny house builders find buyers.  In keeping with the spirit of tiny houses, all net proceeds from Tiny House Expos events will go to local nonprofits.  For more information, please visit www.TinyHouseExpos.com.
